My name is Judith Hails, but you can call me Judy. I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 2018. I provide an individualized approach to therapy that centers on helping you achieve your goals, while also making sure we have time to process day-to-day happenings that impact you. If you don’t know what your goals are yet, don’t worry. We can sort that out together, too. My approach My go-to is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The basic premise is that our thoughts influence how we view problems and modifying how we think about problems often changes how we feel about them. This in turn often has a profound impact on how we respond. I also offer Christian CBT on request. My focus I enjoy working with clients from 18 to 65. The most common conditions I treat are anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. I also help people learn to control their anger. My communication style I am an active listener who will attempt to make you feel comfortable talking about yourself. Sessions are flexible enough to address what concerns you today while still working on the goals you set for therapy. My journey to mental healthcare In a previous lifetime, I worked as an academic advisor to college students, and this opened my eyes to the importance of taking charge of our own life rather than living out the goals other people (i.e. parents, partners, societal pressure, etc.,) set for us. This was against the backdrop of witnessing first-hand the profound impact unmanaged mental illness can have on realizing our full potential. It had a major impact on me and led me to pursue a career as a therapist. My driving motivation is a desire to help people find peace, achieve their goals, and develop the confidence to dream big dreams. My goals for you Goal setting is a mutual activity. First, we talk about what you want to achieve from therapy, then we turn broad statements into a list of specific goals that can reasonably be achieved.show more
